A fugitve sex offender from Liverpool who had been on the run from police is heading back behind bars after being caught in Scotland.
Police had made a public plea to help trace Liverpool -born Steven Pinnington so they could return him to jail.
Lancashire Police said the 39-year-old was wanted for breaching the terms of his release from prison.
His last known address was in Glasgow, but police said he may have travelled to areas where he has links which include Blackpool, Liverpool, Birmingham and Northern Ireland.
Lancashire Police made the appeal after Pinnington breached the registered sex offender notification requirements as he had not told police of his whereabouts.
But today Lancashire Police confirmed the search was over and Pinnington had been arrested in Scotalnd.
A spokesperson said: "Pinnington, 39 was wanted on recall to prison. He is currently in custody. Thanks to everyone who shared our earlier appeals to find him."
A registered sex offender is a person who has been convicted of a crime involving a sexual act.
The person is ordered to sign the Sexual Offenders Register, after they have served their criminal sentences or when they have been released on parole.
They must notify the police of certain details, with further notification required if any of those details change.
