Fuel spill on major road after rush hour crash

A crash this morning led to a build up of traffic as council teams worked to clear spilled petrol on the road.

Police were called around 8.45am after reports that two cars, a Ford Focus and a Honda had been involved in a crash.

The accident happened on Stockbridge Lane near the junction at Knowsley Lane, not far from Nursery Farm boarding kennels.

Damage was caused to both vehicles but no injuries were reported to the drivers who both exchanged numbers after the crash.

For a while after the accident, there were delays and a build up of traffic after the discovery of petrol from one of the vehicles had spilled onto the road surface.

A council team sent out to deal with the spillage partially blocked the area before the road could be fully reopened.
