The NSW government has finally agreed to implement a singles bubble for people to meet others indoors without being intimate partners.
The decision to bring in singles bubbles came after a lengthy discussion during NSW’s crisis cabinet on Tuesday afternoon, according to The Australian. Multiple officials signed off on the the bubble to help fight mental health impacts of a long-term lockdown.
From individual MPs advocating, to relentless questions in pressers, to a petition with nearly 10,000 signatures, a singles bubble is something that NSW has been begging for since *checks notes* literally the start of lockdown.

Currently, people in Sydney are only allowed to socialise with their household members, or an intimate partner. There’s been a huge push in Sydney for a friend bubble of sorts so people who aren’t in a relationships are still allowed to have a support person.
Even SA implemented a singles bubble – and theirs was announced just two days into lockdown. Compare that to NSW, who are coming up on our fifth week of stay-at-home orders.

The good news is, it looks like we’ve finally been heard! There won’t be any formal announcement of the singles bubble and how it’ll work until Wednesday, but at least now those of us languishing alone in our homes don’t have to resort to turning our friendships ~intimate~ for company, right? Or… Nah, just kidding. Haha. Unless?
