Former Florida State football coach Bobby Bowden has tested positive for COVID-19, the Tallahassee Democrat reported.

Bowden, who turns 91 next month, told the Democrat Monday morning he was diagnosed with the virus on Saturday following a recent hospital stay.

Bowden spent nearly two weeks at Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare getting treated for a leg infection following the removal of cancer spots. Bowden was transferred to the hospital's rehab center and was released on Thursday, Oct. 1.

He told the Democrat his physician informed him of the positive test result, but he has no symptoms.

"I don't feel bad, yet," Bowden told the newspaper. "I guess I can loaf around the rest of the week. I just have to keep an eye out for (symptoms)."

Bowden said he's quarantining at home and no one else in his house has tested positive.

He is considered the father of the FSU football program, leading the Seminoles to two pair of national championships in 1993 and 1999.

Current FSU coach Mike Norvell, who also recently tested positive for COVID-19 but had no symptoms, said during his Monday news conference the program is pulling for Bowden to recover swiftly.

"We're thinking of Coach," Norvell said of Bowden. "He'll be in our thoughts and prayers."
