Frydenberg makes RBA board appointments

Coca-Cola Amatil boss Alison Watkins has been appointed to the Reserve Bank board. (AAP)

Treasurer Josh Frydenberg has appointed Coca-Cola Amatil managing director Alison Watkins to the board of the Reserve Bank of Australia.

She will be joined by former investment banker and CSL director Carolyn Hewson.

They will replace outgoing board members Allan Moss, whose term ended on December 1, and Catherine Tanna, who will conclude her term on March 29.

"Mr Moss and Ms Tanna have made valuable and significant contributions to Reserve Bank board deliberations and the government thanks them for their outstanding service to the board throughout their terms," Mr Frydenberg said in a statement on Thursday.

"The appointments of Ms Watkins and Ms Hewson will help ensure that monetary policy continues to support Australia's economic resilience and prosperity through the recovery phase of the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond."
