Frustration for Arteta as another Arsenal player tests positive for Covid-19 ahead of Leeds clash

Arsenal defender Sead Kolasinac has tested positive for Covid-19 whilst on international duty with Bosnia, it has been confirmed.

The left-back was in-line to feature for his country in this evening's UEFA Nations League clash with Italy but has now been forced to pull out after returning a positive test for the virus, reports in Bosnia claim.

Kolasinac becomes the second Bosnia player to have tested positive for Covid-19 after goalkeeper Ibrahim Sehic was confirmed to have caught the disease on Tuesday.

As well as being ruled out of this evening's clash with Italy, it also means that the left-back will be forced to miss Arsenal's clash with Leeds United at Elland Road on Sunday.

This news will add more frustration to the mind of Gunners manager Mikel Arteta after it was confirmed on Monday evening that Mohamed Elneny had tested positive for the virus whilst on international duty with Egypt.

Though strict protocols have been followed by all nations and UEFA during this current international break, no shortage of Premier League players have tested positive for Covid-19 whilst away with their respective national teams.

Lat week, it was confirmed that Liverpool ace Mohamed Salah had caught the virus whilst away with Egypt before Tottenham Hotspur right-back Matt Doherty was confirmed to have tested positive following the Republic of Ireland's 1-0 defeat to Wales at the Cardiff City Stadium on Sunday.

As a result of testing positive for the virus, Kolasinac, who was heavily linked with a summer move away from the Emirates Stadium during the transfer window, will also be forced to miss next Thursday evening's Europa League clash with Molde.

The 27-year-old has made just seven appearances for the Gunners so far this term, with three of those being in the Europa League.

Arsenal are yet to comment on the situation.
