Frustration as tenants still wait to move into Clifton council flats unveiled 11 weeks ago

Tenants are still waiting for their rooms at a block of Nottingham council flats that were unveiled almost 11 weeks ago. In November, Nottingham City Homes (NCH) said people would be moving into Kieron Hill Court, off Hamilton Court in Clifton, "very shortly".

The four-storey building, named after a 20-year-old soldier who died in an explosion in Afghanistan in 2009, contains 36 one-bedroom properties. However, all the flats currently remain vacant.

NCH said delays were due to the fact building and fire safety elements were yet to be completed, but said tenants would be able to move in within a fortnight. “As with any major development project on this scale, there will unfortunately sometimes be slight delays caused," said a spokesperson.

"There have been some final building and fire safety elements to complete but these are now almost finished and we should be able to welcome people in the next fortnight. The lettings team has kept our future tenants informed throughout and we’re sorry for any inconvenience caused.”

Nearby residents said they hoped people would be able to move in soon. Dominic Haslan, 39, who lives near the flats, said: “It’s been up for a while now but there are no cars in the car park.

"I’ve been here seven years and never experienced anything like that when I was moving in.” A woman, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “It’s been up for a while.

"I feel sorry for them if they were supposed to have moved in months ago.” Harrold West, 79, added: “I’ve got no idea about it all, hopefully they move in soon."

Kieron Hill Court was officially unveiled on November 30 last year. At the time, the parents of the fallen soldier said they were "so proud as a family".
