Gordie Mutch had another frustrating weekend on the track in the Britcar Endurance Championship.
Oulton Park was the venue for the latest round of the racing series but issues hit teenager Mutch’s Praga car throughout the weekend, although he was still able to secure a second place with team mate Abbie Eaton.
Gordie said: “It was a frustrating because we were very quick in practice and we were on pace for a pole position in qualifying.
“But there was a technical issue with the steering wheel which meant we lost time as I couldn’t access fifth gear as I couldn’t get on the paddles to change gear. We had to settle for fourth in qualifying.
“In race one we had another technical issue, this time with the battery terminal, unfortunately. Oulton Park is quite a bumpy track and you feel more of the bumps and the car takes more of the shock than other cars. As a result we couldn’t finish which was disappointing.
“In race two we were leading but then a misfire meant we went down to second.
“We kept the car in second place but that was all we could do.”
In two weeks time it’s back to Silverstone for the Lockerbie teenager.
He said: “Hopefully at Silverstone we can get better luck. It’s a much flatter track so hopefully we don’t have too many issues.”
Off the track and on the virtual racing circuit Gordie continues to make waves.
