Nottingham Forest defender Carl Jenkinson has opened up on his battle to come back from injury, and the competition with team mate Matty Cash.
The Reds right-back has been sidelined with an ankle problem which has kept him out of action since the end of August, with his last appearance coming in the 1-1 draw with Preston North End.
The injury has restricted Jenkinson to just four appearances since his summer move from Arsenal, with Cash deputising at right-back in his stead.
The 27-year-old says he relishes the competition with his Reds team mate, and is looking forward to getting minutes under his belt after recovering from his injury and returning to the squad.
“It’s good to be back involved,” Jenkinson said.
He added: “I had a bad injury which took a while to heal up. That was frustrating obviously having just joined the club, but that is football.
“It is part and parcel of the job and I have worked very hard to get back to a decent level of fitness and to be ready to help the team.
“Cashy has done very well, I am very happy for him as it is all about Nottingham Forest doing well.
“We are all pushing towards the same goals in the squad, so the more people who are in a position to be playing well, in my case at right back, and playing at a good level which Cashy has been doing, the better it is.”
