Frustrated fans launch Newcastle takeover petition urging Premier League to make a decision

Frustrated Newcastle United fans have launched a petition urging the Premier League to hurry up and come to a decision on the proposed Saudi led takeover.

Lawyers at the Premier League are still looking at the deal with checks now into the 13th week, and understandably fans are becoming impatient at the lack of an outcome.

They're not the only ones - with Steve Bruce and Alan Sheare r also calling on the Premier League for 'clarity' while it's reported club captain Jamaal Lascelles on behalf of his teammates has also demanded to know what is going on regarding the ownership.

While the buying side remains confident - and some close to the deal even tipping this week for a formal announcement and media calls as revealed on the Everything is Black and White Pocast - frustrations are growing with the lack of transparency over the Premier League's checks.

The petition, launched by Sean Conway and which you can see by clicking here, demands the Premier League provide an answer 'either way' so fans can move on.

"On behalf of myself and millions of Newcastle United fans, please do us a favour and make a decision on the takeover," Conway has written.

"We are stuck with a man who has neglected the club from top-to-bottom, and the staff and fans both deserve and answer.

"We demand to know an answer either way so we can all move forward for better or worse."

Despite the increased pressure on the Premier League - the body is unlikely to rush its decision given the controversy surrounding it.

Issues of human rights and piracy have caused issues and the likelihood is that the those making the final call are making sure everything is legally watertight.
