Frustrated Edinburgh restaurant 'forced to close' slam Nicola Sturgeon's tier three decision

A popular Edinburgh restaurant has hit out at the decision to extend level three restrictions in Edinburgh after they were 'forced' to temporarily close their doors.

Frustrated Fishers Restaurant decided to shut down on Monday because of the negative impact caused by the current COVID-19 restrictions and say the business won't be viable until Edinburgh is able to operate under at least tier two.

Under current restrictions, hospitality in Edinburgh must close down at 6pm and not sell alcohol, but owner Tia Millar told Edinburgh Live that when combined with lockdown and a lack of music, level three is proving a disaster.

Owner Tia Millar told Edinburgh Live : "The news of staying in tier three has come as no surprise but is disappointing nonetheless - we decided to close our doors on Monday due to the current restrictions.

"The closing of our restaurants was a decision made with regret but is necessary for the business at this moment.

"Our business is not viable at the moment with limited tables, hours, tourists, office workers and alcohol and music being forbidden.

"The restrictions prevent us from delivering the overall experience that we pride ourselves on and inhibit the ability to create a pleasant atmosphere for our customers.

"Lastly, we want to reassure you that we will be reopening when the time comes that the restrictions are relaxed, and we are able to offer a service and environment that we feel is up to par."
