Fruitful SA police search might have smashed avocado-related crime

A police search prompted by a string of break-ins has proved fruitful in the South Australian Riverland, turning up crates full of avocados.

Officers searched a house at Renmark as part of their investigation into recent thefts, locating an array of items they suspected had been stolen.

Recovered items included antique clocks, a canoe and building insulation. Police later identified the owners of those items.

But they said they were yet to find the owner of hundreds of avocados which were found in crates.

A 29-year-old man from the searched property was arrested and charged with unlawful possession.

He was refused bail and is to appear in a local court.

Police hope someone will come forward with information about the several hundred avocados and who might be their rightful owner.

Any leads can be reported to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online.
