Frugal Kate Middleton dresses Charlotte and Louis in George's old outfits to save money

The Royal Family may have more money than they know what to do with, but that does not mean they shy away from being frugal. The Duchess of Cambridge has forged a reputation for herself since becoming a royal in 2011 for rewearing past outfits, something that practically everyone does unless they're a royal.

Just last year, Kate made headlines after wearing a repurposed Alexander McQueen dress at the Earthshot Prize ceremony. The Duchess of Cambridge first wore the dress back in 2011, and had no problem with wearing it again on the green carpet, reports MyLondon.

40-year-old Kate applies these ethics to her children's wardrobes, too. Not only are her children dressed in clothing which once belonged to their older siblings, but some of the items in their wardrobes once belonged to other relatives, including their father, Prince William..

Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis have both been spotted wearing Prince George's clothes on many occasions, especially Louis. In December 2020, the youngest Cambridge child was photographed at a pantomime, wearing George's Amaia jacket.

In September 2021, the then three-year-old stepped out in one of his older brother's jumpers to attend a private outdoor screening of a David Attenborough film. Prince George had been seen wearing the jumper during a royal tour of Canada, back in 2016.

The Duchess of Cambridge has also handed George's blue overalls down to Louis, which George was spotted wearing in 2014 at a charity polo match. Charlotte has also been spotted wearing George's clothes, with the princess donning the cardigan her older brother wore when he went to visit her in hospital for the first time after she was born during the previously mentioned royal tour of Canada.

It's not just clothes that the Cambridge children share, either. All three of them were swaddled in the same blanket when they left hospital for the first time after being born; the GH Hurt and Son Ltd blanket which all three Cambridge babies were photographed in for the first time has been in the Royal Family since 1948.

Although George is the oldest sibling, he is not exempt from hand-me-downs. A photograph taken of George being held by William at Trooping the Colour in 2015 is practically identical to one taken in 1984 of Prince Charles holding William at the same event. In both photographs, the young boys are wearing the same frilly pastel blue jumpsuit.
