Frozen musical set to open in London's Theatre Royal Drury Lane in the West End in 2020

Disney's Frozen is set to open in the West End in 2020.

It has been confirmed that the highly anticipated Broadway show, which is based on the 2013 Disney film, will open at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in autumn 2020.

The musical opened on Broadway in March last year and was subsequently nominated for the Tony Award for Best Musical. The show has been created by the same writing team behind the film - Jennifer Lee, Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez - with new songs written especially for the show.

Frozen tells the story of sisters Anna and Elsa, whose kingdom is stuck in an endless winter because of Elsa's magical ability to turn things to ice and snow. The film went on to become the highest-grossing animated film of all time and won two Academy Awards; a sequel will be released in cinemas this November.

The London opening of the musical will coincide with the completion of refurbishment works on the Theatre Royal Drury Lane. The Grade I listed building will reopen with improved facilities and an expanded front of house in order to make it a daytime eating venue as well as a theatre.

Performances and casting for the West End production are yet to be announced, but audiences can sign up for priority booking at FrozenTheMusical.co.uk
