Back in May this year I wrote about a TV programme that celebrated the unsung heroes of Britain’s Caribbean colonies who volunteered to join the fight against Hitler.

It was based on a documentary film, Divided by race - united in war and peace, which explored the experiences of some of the 16,000 people from the Caribbean who volunteered to take part in the second world war.

Now that film, produced by the-latest.com website, is going to be screened at the Frontline Club on Monday (28 September) followed by a Q&A with its director Marc Wadsworth.

He tells me that young volunteers were involved at every stage of the filming project and held a dialogue with the veterans who discuss the notion of Britain as a multicultural society and the vexed issue of immigration today.

They have also put together a second world war living memorial in which the veterans tell their stories of veterans. The website will go live in October during Black History Month.

DVDs of Divided by race - united in war and peace will be available to buy after the hour-long screening at the Frontline, which begins at 7pm.
