Frontline staff in Indore seek Covid booster dose

INDORE: Over one lakh persons, including health workers completed six months after their second dose of Covid vaccines. Now, these people are contemplating a demand for booster dose to boost immunity level against the virus.

When TOI talked to the doctors, experts they not only sought booster dose, but also batted for cross vaccination for better immunity. Health workers were the first to get inoculated. Those, who were inoculated with the first dose in January, were administered the second in February after a gap of 28 days, said President of IMA-Indore chapter Dr Satish Joshi. “Since then, more than six months have passed and levels of antibodies were found to be depleting. In my own case, antibodies were over 20 in April and now they have dropped below the level 3”, said Dr Joshi.

In case another wave or surge is reported, the chances of infection will remain. So, the booster doses should be allowed, demanded Dr Joshi.
