Front door left riddled with bullet holes in Levenshulme

A gunman blasted a home and car during an early morning shooting in Levenshulme.

Armed police raced to the scene after shots were fired at the home on Slade Lane at 3.40am on Tuesday.

The front door of the house was riddled with bullet holes.

No one was injured, police said.

The shooting was described as an 'isolated incident'.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing three men approach the property before shooting at the home with a handgun.

A neighbour, who didn't want to be named, told the Manchester Evening News he heard 'three or four’ loud bangs as the incident unfolded.

He realised straight away they were gunshots.

The trio, wearing dark clothing, then ran off down an alleyway towards Stockport Road.

The street was cordoned off throughout the morning between Old Hall Lane and Park Grove.

Markers numbered 1 to 9 were laid out along the street as forensic officers took photos of evidence at the scene.

Drivers were urged to avoid the area due to the road closure.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Supt Ian Crewe, of GMP’s City of Manchester division, said: “I understand the concern that incidents like this cause in our communities but I want to reassure you that we believe this to be an isolated incident and have a team of detectives working hard to piece together the circumstances surrounding this shooting.

“We understand from witnesses that the trio were all wearing dark clothing. They fled prior to police arrival and we would urge anyone who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area to get in touch as soon as possible.

“You will see an increased police presence in the area throughout the coming days to support the public and these officers will assist with any queries or concerns you may have in any way they can.”
