Fromer Punjab Congress chief Sunil Jakhar takes on Navjot Sidhu, tries to defend Captain Amarinder

BATHINDA: Punjab Congress’ former president Sunil Jakhar has made his intentions clear of taking on the present state party chief Navjot Singh Sidhu and has also shown his soft corner for ex-chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh, even after the latter made it clear that he is leaving Congress after feeling insulted.

Sunil Jakhar in two different tweets made on Thursday made clear his intentions trying to show all is not well in the party in the border state.

Jakhar’s name was almost clear for the next chief minister after the resignation of Captain Amarinder Singh on September 19 but last minute manoeuvrings stopped his passage and sources close to Jakhar murmer that Sidhu stopped his name to be cleared.

Now when Sidhu raised question mark over appointments of director general of police and advocate general by new chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi, Jakhar made a tweet on Thursday writing "enough is enough. Put an end to attempts to undermine the authority of CM time and again. Aspersions being cast on selection of AG & DGP is actually questioning the integrity/competence of CM and Home Minister to deliver results. It’s time to put the foot down and clear the air".

Earlier he tweeted writing "It’s just not cricket! What stands compromised in this entire 'episode' is the faith reposed in the (outgoing?) PCC President by the Congress Leadership. No amount of grand standing can justify this breach of trust placing his benefactors in a peculiar predicament."

While Captain commenting on the interference of Sidhu in the government said good words for Sunil Jakhar saying he had done a good job.

Jakhar in his second tweet of the day reciprocated the gesture defending Captain Amarinder Singh, wrote "kuch to majboorian rahi hongi, yun to koi bewafa nahi hota (there must be some compulsions, nobody ditches without reason)" along with Captain's picture with union home minister Amit Shah.
