The Maison Poincaré is France's first museum entirely dedicated to mathematics. Located in Paris' Latin Quarter, it is spread over an area of 900 square meters. One of its objectives is to show mathematics in action.

According to Sylvie Benzoni-Gavage, the museum's philosophy is to show mathematics as it is today, how it was developed, and that it is much wider than what pupils learn at school..

"We want to show that it's also very interesting and that many people who do mathematics want to share their enthusiasm," she said.

The museum, which is under the tutelage of the CNRS and Sorbonne University, consists of permanent and temporary exhibitions as well as workshops for high school students.

There are multiple spaces in the permanent exhibition that are dedicated to different themes like connecting, modelling, and inventing among other things.

"In this musem, one can discover the the connection between maths and football, how data is related to artificial intelligence as well as the history of mathematics in terms of its connection with geography and geometry," Sally Sicardin of the Institut Henri Poincaré said.
