From Shuckers to shankers: Minor-league park in Mississippi is now a golf course

A minor-league baseball stadium in Mississippi is now a golf course.

The ongoing global coronavirus pandemic has led to the cancellation of the 2020 Minor League Baseball season, but in Biloxi, they’re making use of what otherwise would have been an empty baseball diamond.

MGM Park is home of the Shuckers, the Class AA affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers, and their field of dreams is now a small golf course.

According to WLOX-TV, the field serves as a nine-hole chipping course from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The green fee is $25.

Starting at 4:15 p.m., the stadium turns into Target Challenge, with golfers firing balls from two party decks.

“We’ve been thinking about it for years, and what better time to do it than now and provide some entertainment for fans in the area or just people in the community to come out and swing it and have a little fun with golf?” Shuckers assistant general manager Trevor Matifes told WLOX.

Three weeks ago the Portland Sea Dogs in Maine did something similar, turning their park into a golf course.
