From Rs 18.50 crore to Rs 2 crore, Sam Curran takes a 87% pay cut at IPL 2025 mega auction

NEW DELHI: England all-rounder Sam Curran took a 87% pay cut after he was bought by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for Rs 2.40 crore on the second day of the IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah on Monday.

Sam Curran had a base price of Rs 2 crore.

Punjab Kings, for whom Sam Curran had played for from 2019 to 2024 did not go for the Right To Match (RTM) card.

Due to his impactful performances and versatility, Curran is also known for his ability to bowl in all phases of the game and provide crucial runs with the bat.

Curran had made his IPL debut with Kings XI Punjab in 2019 after being bought for Rs 7.2 crore and made an immediate impact, including a sensational hat-trick against Delhi Capitals, becoming one of the youngest to achieve this feat.

In the 2023 IPL Auction, Curran became one of the most expensive players in IPL history at that time, bought for Rs 18.50 crore by Punjab Kings.
