From pasta to doughnuts - These five Edinburgh eateries are now doing delicious lockdown deliveries

Whether it's your anniversary, a birthday, or you just can't be bothered going to the shops, there are a number of local businesses now doing deliveries during lockdown.

Nights in have become the new norm amid the pandemic and eateries across Edinburgh have responded by finding new ways to serve customers, offering everything from fresh pasta paired with wine, to vegan doughnut selection boxes.

While the restaurants remain shut, here is the ultimate list - in no particular order - of local businesses that are now offering food deliveries during lockdown.

Fresca Pasta

(Fresca Pasta)

In a time of such uncertainty, what could be more appealing than comfort food?

Fresca Pasta, who have been known to pop-up in some of Edinburgh's coolest spots, have to come to the rescue.

They supply "Cook At Home" kits in a range of four options from just £12.50, which come with a delicious sauce of your choice, as well as instructions on how to create the mouth-watering dish.

With enough food for two people in each kit, they are perfect for a date night at home - whether that be with friends, your partner, or just the cat.

Rather handily, they are also selling extras like flour and eggs.

You can find it all here.

Smith & Gertrude

Smith & Gertrude are selling 'ultimate' weekend packs (Smith & Gertrude)

For the cheese and wine lovers among you, Smith & Gertrude are offering the ultimate treat.

The popular wine bar, hidden away in Stockbridge's Hamilton Place, may have closed its doors but are now selling "Stay Home Weekend Packs".

Whether it's the finest vino you're after, some artisan food options, or a combination of both, they are here to serve your every need.

Your options include The Stockbridge Connection Brunch (£19), which comes with freshly roasted coffee beans from neighbouring cafe Fortitude, or the "Ultimate S&G Pack" with a bottle of wine, three of the finest George Mewes cheese, a charcuterie selection, freshly made baguette and homemade S&G chocolates.

And, there are many more which you can browse on their website here.

Alby's Leith

Alby's has you sorted when it comes to a sandwich fix (Alby's)

If the main thing you're missing is your sandwich fix on a Friday then look no further than Alby's in Leith.

After a successful "Friday night sandwich party" they are continuing to do deliveries - and we can definitely get on board with the idea.

Known for their monster-sized sandwiches, they send out all the ingredients so you can recreate some of their mouth-watering breaded creations.

This week they are recreating the vegan "Almighty Hispi Cabbage sandwich", with Charred Hispi Cabbage, umami mayo, pickled daikon, crispy onions, sesame, sriracha, coriander and rocket.

It even comes with a playlist and instructions on how to make and, if you can hold off eating it at lunch, they do a live video demo at around 7pm.

If that doesn't get you excited for Friday, we don't know what will.

To preorder from their next batch, keep an eye on Alby's Instagram here.

Considerit

Considerit have incredible treats on offer (Considerit)

Moving on to dessert, this list wouldn't be complete without mentioning that Edinburgh's one-stop-shop for vegan treats is now delivering.

Forget Krispy Kreme, Considerit chocolate are doing boxes of six doughnuts for £15 - which includes delivery.

You can also get additional add-ons, including cinnamon buns, cinnamon sugar doughnuts, bag of doughnut holes or a Considerit chocolate selection.

But you will have to act fast and get in line when they become available because they have been selling out pretty quickly each week - just check out Considerit's website here.

Twelve Triangles

Who could resist? (Twelve Triangles)

Finally (but by no means last) we have Twelve Triangles - who are yet to let this city down when it comes to delicious pastries.

In the wake of the pandemic, owners Rachel and Emily have created an online shop selling everything from freshly baked sourdough bread, to pastries and groceries like milk, eggs and butter.

They are even selling booze from craft beer shop Salt Horse, whoa are offering hand-picked selection packs.

They add that they can only deliver to: EH1, EH2, EH3, EH4, EH5, EH6, EH7, EH8, EH9, EH10, EH11, EH12 and EH15.
