From Michael B Jordan to Chris Evans, these were the best dressed men at the Oscars 2019

Year after year, celebrities are challenged to step their fashion game up over the course of awards season. The crown jewel is undoubtedly the Oscars and it was a sartorial extravaganza. Our style contributor Geoff K Cooper, the editor of menswear site Sagaboi, broke down which male celebrities nailed their outfits this year. From the quintessential black tux to floor length melodrama, here's Geoff on the best dressed men at the Oscars 2019.

The Oscars is the Superbowl of red carpet style and while many fell short of scoring a style touchdown, nine men moved past the rest to make it to our list of the very best dressed.

Ben Hardy

Although some Eastenders fans were shocked to see Ben Hardy at the Oscars, the Bohemian Rhapsody star exuded high levels of rakishness in this white contrast collar tux and perfectly matching bow tie. His red carpet game was strong - and he sure knew it.

Chadwick Boseman

Chadwick Boseman was red carpet royalty at the Oscars with a look that turned heads and scored high on the men's style barometer. The Black Panther star's choice of a dazzling tuxedo "jacape" and silk tie neck shirt dared and delivered.

Chris Evans' colour and texture combo caught many eyes and with good reason. His aqua blue velvet tux was a major statement look, which served high levels of suave on the Oscars red carpet.

Henry Golding

If you're going to do velvet, do it like Henry Golding. The Crazy Rich Asians star rolled through the Oscars red carpet in a dashing black wide lapel tux paired with a contrasting vest. A subtle pocket watch chain was a nice touch. Superb!

Mahershala Ali

Mahershala Ali's style moves were mighty. Ali, who won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for Green Book, effortlessly exuded cool in an Ermenegildo Zegna printed black double-breasted tux. The Nehru collar shirt pairing, topped by a black Gigi Burris Sharina hat was icing on the cake.

Mark Ronson knows a thing or two about suits. At the Oscars, he delivered yet another standout look in this shawl collar single button Kyosuke Kunimoto tux with silk piping details.

Michael B Jordan's blue peak lapel velvet tuxedo look stood out in the sea of black tuxes, placing him vibrantly at the top of the list. The Creed star was certainly a heavy weight style champ on the red carpet.

Nicolas Hoult was a vision of elegance and loucheness on the red carpet. Donning an all-black doubled breasted shawl collar tux heightened by an interwoven and perfectly draped black sash, his was a mood of modern masculinity

The words "classic done and donned well" are the first ones that came to mind after peeking Trevor Noah's Oscar red carpet look: a debonair double-breasted black Ferragamo tux.
