Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif spoke on Thursday of positive signs related to the security of the region and the course of the negotiations, underway in Vienna, over his country’s nuclear program.

Zarif made his remarks from Kuwait, the last stop of an Arab tour that included Iraq, Qatar and Oman.

In a tweet, he said: “Indications of positive signs on horizon in both tracks.”

He met in Kuwait with Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah for talks on bilateral ties and regional and international issues of interest, reported the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA). The meeting was attended by Foreign Minister Sheikh Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah

Zarif had flown in from Muscat where he held talks on Wednesday night with the spokesman of the Iran-backed Houthi militias in Yemen, Mohammed Abdulsalam. Zarif conveyed to the Houthi official Tehran’s support of a ceasefire and return to the negotiations table to resolve the destructive war in Yemen.

Zarif “once again stressed our country's view regarding the political solution being the only solution to the crisis of Yemen”, the Iranian foreign ministry said in a statement.
