From ivory wedding refinery to handloom ensemble: Trends that will rule the season

This Spring/Summer, trans-seasonal clothing is all set to rule as industry will see a shift with season-bias and trend-bias fashion. Minimalism and timeless fashion is being touted as the choice for the brides of the season. Nude, pastel and muted toned wedding lehengas and saris are having a moment and comfort palette is dominate the season. While Alia-Ranbir’s wedding, in all ivory, has opened new doors for the fashion industry, bride and groom are opening up and getting all experimental with their choices. The weddings are turning dreamy and the baraatis are being spotted in coordinated ensembles. With so many trends happening, we got in touch with Neha and Tarun Kapoor, Founders, Label Neha Tarun to know more about what's going to trend this season.

"It is time to revisit our old traditional art and craft. We will touch base with the roots of our historical Indian aesthetics and sensibilities. Lot of emphasis will be given to detailing and craftsmanship inspired by local/regional craft," feel the duo.

According to the designers, handloom will make its niche space and presence for a much longer time. It is going to be a permanent category while shopping for trousseau-wear. Elegant Banarasi khadi and organza silk saris will be owned and passed down through generations to come. It will also be tweaked and given modern appeal, with the current obsession of pre-stitched and draped saris.

This Spring/Summer, even prints and patterns will be inspired by the old/traditional art and techniques that reflects Indian heritage. Textile Designers will play a very important role and will be given their much long due recognition and respect. Paisleys, chintz, batik, bandhani, ikkat, ajrak, leheria, etc. will be seen in different forms.

Cocktail / Reception outfits will be shimmery but monotones. New muted, metallic shimmer shades like gold leaf, himalayan salt, ice pewter, bazel, razor’s edge, comet streak, scratch off, grape frost, cellophane, etc. will make its mark. Summer friendly, breezy and light weight sheer fabrics with sheen will be used with lots of metallic tone on tone embroidered elements.

Mehendi / Sangeet outfits need a fresh change and a new color pallet. To break the monotony, it is high time to change the silhouettes as well.

On a lighter note, this summer, printed co-ord sets will also be seen a lot, but as a formal attire. Summer Blazer Pants in Pop, Neon Shades is also going to be a popular choice.

"With much hyped NRI Fashion controversy, we might see a shift in that area too. A major shift in the way of dressing is expected to see. More multi Designer stores are anticipated to open globally to mend the fashion time lapse between India and West," conclude the duo.
