From Harry Kane to Piers Morgan: A who's who of players in the Paddy Power Golf Shootout

The Paddy Power golf shootout is set to take place on Friday, with golf pros and celebrity amateurs combining to take part at the Centurion Club in Hertfordshire.

Players will start with a series of skills challenges, before culminating with a unique new golf format, the Shootout.

So who are we going to see take part from the world of sport and beyond? There is a strong Tottenham Hotspur connection from the celebrities, with one current player and two former stars.

Here’s who will be in action...

Celebs

Harry Kane

The biggest name on show will be Tottenham striker and England captain Harry Kane.

Spurs’ main man has had an impressive season so far despite some injury issues, scoring 27 times in all competitions, and will soon be resuming his usual role when the Premier League restarts later in June.

He has recently recovered from injury and should be fit for when the football campaign resumes — and for this tournament.

Peter Crouch

Former striker Peter Crouch filled a similar role to Kane in years gone by in leading the line for England and Spurs, among other clubs.

He retired last year and has been frequently seen enjoying his wide variety of media appearances since then, with TV shows, punditry work and regular podcasting all on the agenda for the ex-Liverpool and Stoke centre-forward.

He is otherwise notable for being extremely tall and performing an iconic robot celebration after important goals during his career.

Jamie Redknapp

Completing the trio of football-linked stars in the lineup, Jamie Redknapp enjoyed a top career with Liverpool and then Spurs, while also playing for England.

The classy and elegant midfielder retired in 2005 and since then has been a regular television pundit and analyst with Sky Sports.

Piers Morgan

Television personality Piers Morgan co-presents Good Morning Britain on ITV. He has worked in television across multiple shows and is well known for his love for Arsenal.

Freddie Flintoff

A former international cricketer with England, Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff now works in television and radio having retired in 2015.

Pros

Tommy Fleetwood

Heading the golfing names is world No. 10 Tommy Fleetwood, with five wins to his name on the European Tour and the runner-up at the 2019 Open Championship.

Andrew ‘Beef’ Johnston

Andrew Johnston is known as ‘Beef’ and has one win on the European Tour, making nine appearances at golf’s majors so far.

Thomas Bjorn

Danish golfer Thomas Bjorn was the 2018 Ryder Cup-winning captain for Europe and he has 15 European Tour wins through his career.

Carly Booth

Booth hails from Scotland and has three wins on the Ladies European Tour to-date, the last of which came in 2019 in Czech Republic.

Paul McGinley

Irish golfer Paul McGinley is the oldest of the pro group at 53 and sunk the winning putt at the 2002 Ryder Cup. He has four career wins on the European Tour.
