From 'get him in' to 'bottler': Manchester United fans' mixed reaction to Pochettino as manager

Paris Saint-Germain head coach Mauricio Pochettino has become the frontrunner for the vacant Manchester United job.

The Ole Trafford opportunity is available after the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Sunday morning.

Saturday's 4-1 defeat away to Watford proved to be the final straw for the board, a fourth defeat in five Premier League games to see them slip to eighth in the standings.

With Michael Carrick in temporary charge until an interim coach can be found for the rest of the season, Pochettino was seen as a summer target.

But the MEN understands that the former Tottenham Hotspur boss is open to moving to Old Trafford immediately.

The news has garnered a mixed response from United fans.

On the one hand, the potential arrival of a manager who established Spurs as credible title contenders and Champions League finalists has been viewed positively by fans.

However, Pochettino failed to win a major trophy while with Spurs and Southampton before that.

Plus, his move to France's Ligue 1 has led to a few United supporters believing Pochetino would be no better in the United dugout than his predecessor, Solskjaer.
