From game show meanie to singing icon, how Celebrity X Factor has changed Jenny Ryan's life

Before she opened her mouth to sing on Celebrity X Factor quizzer Jenny Ryan was best known as game show meanie The Vixen on The Chase - but now it's a different story.

Jenny, 37, from Bolton is now recognised in the street for showcasing her singing talent every Saturday night on live TV.

She's been hailed as a 'gay icon' after belting out numbers including Lady Gaga's The Edge of Glory and Conchita Wurst's Rise Like A Phoenix, changing her look with a wardrobe of dazzling outfits and switching up her trademark red beehive for different hairstyles.

Asked about the outpouring of affection towards her on the ITV singing show she said: "It has been overwhelming and hard to take in, considering my usual persona is a meanie on the Chase.

"I'm a representative for the people who might not feel that they are pop star material and people have picked up on that - and it's a big responsibility to be a role model."

She added: "I'm being recognised wherever I go whereas before I could go incognito without my beehive."

Jenny is in the final this Saturday with Max and Harvey, Megan McKenna and girl group V5 - and she'll be cheered on by friends and family including her mum who has been in the audience supporting her every week.

The winner gets a record deal but Jenny says she'll keep singing even if she doesn't win - and she won't be quitting The Chase.

"It doesn't mean I'll stop performing," she said.

"And for someone like me The Chase is the best job in the world.

"Celebrity X Factor has made me reevaluate what I feel my limitations are.

"I'm probably my own worst critic."

The X Factor: Celebrity Live Final airs Saturday at 7.10pm on ITV
