From darkest Peru to your pocket - Paddington Bear 50p pieces are now available

Last month, The Royal Mint announced the release of a range of 50p coins in honour of the nation’s favourite marmalade sandwich eating bear from deepest darkest Peru.

The Paddington Bear at London's iconic St Paul's Cathedral collection has now entered circulation and 65% of them have already been reserved.

The range is available to buy from RoyalMint.com and includes a Silver Proof Coin, a Gold Proof Coin and a Paddington-themed Collector Album.

These new designs follow on from the release of the 2018 coins that marked the 60th anniversary of Paddington Bear, who was first created in 1958 by Michael Bond.

The Royal Mint website also has printable 50p coin images  of Paddington at various London landmarks including Buckingham Palace and the Great Tower of London.

They are encouraging young fans of the beloved bear to add their own colour and share them on social media using the hashtag #PaddingtonCoins
