From Charlie Wyke's recovery to Aiden McGeady's masterclass, relive Sunderland's superb 2-0 win over Doncaster

Sunderland's promotion bandwagon rolls on after another convincing win for Jack Ross' men, this time over Doncaster.

The Black Cats were the day's late kick-off, which meant they could only watch as promotion rivals Barnsley and Portsmouth recorded wins over Shrewsbury and Burton Albion respectively.

With Will Grigg already an injury concern, and set for a bench role, Ross then discovered No 9 Charlie Wyke was a doubt after a bout of sickness ahead of the game.

However, the former Bradford striker pulled through to start - and made his presence felt. Here's what Ross said of his stiker.

Ross sprang a further surprise by dropping centre-backs Tom Flanagan and Jack Baldwin and replacing them with Jimmy Dunne and Alim Ozturk.

It was the first time Ozturk has started a game since September, but the pair performed well together, keeping a clean sheet in the 2-0 win.

But if the pressure was on when it came to the action, Sunderland certainly didn't show it, as they stormed into a seventh-minute lead through Lewis Morgan after good work from Aiden McGeady and Wyke.

McGeady was to have one of those games which again set him apart from the rest of League One.

But it was Wyke who doubled the lead when Max Power's cross was headed down by Dunne, and the striker swept home from close range.

In fact, only a brilliant save from Marosi in the visiting goal prevented him from adding a second. Bryan Oviedo also hit the post as Sunderland cruised to a comfortable win. Read Sunderland 2-0 Doncaster Rovers report: Charlie Wyke shines as Black Cats re-take third place

Wyke and McGeady stood out, but there was also impressive performances from Dunne and the returning Lee Cattermole. Sunderland 2-0 Doncaster Rovers report: Charlie Wyke shines as Black Cats re-take third place

When it comes to experience, you can't beat Cattermole and McGeady, and there return was a key factor as to why Sunderland were so dominant. Here's Stuart Rayner's verdict on just that.

And so to Peterborough on Monday. It's going to be a close, but Sunderland have the momentum.
