A new report has broken down the most awkward shows to watch with your parents – and, as Friday nights in are now a regular thing, we can all relate.
Some 3,255 TV fans took part in the OnBuy.com poll to pinpoint the shows they found most awkward to watch with their family, and the results are in.
Normal People landed at the top of the list, with a staggering 83% finding the show’s honest portrayal of sex too much to share with family.
Coming in second, understandably, is Netflix's breakout hit Bridgerton, which was chosen by 81% of respondents as a show that makes for an awkward night of family viewing.
Daphne and Simon don’t hold back one bit in the first and only season to date, which may explain why viewers are uncomfortable to watch with their parents.
And some 78% of people vowed never to watch Orange Is the New Black with their family again.
The inclusive Netflix original series contributes to deserved LGBTQ+ screen time, but viewers said many of its scenes are too explicit to watch with a family member.
Claiming fourth, fifth, and sixth most embarrassing family watches are Sex Education, Game of Thrones and Big Mouth respectively.
And at the other side of the scale, respondents listed a number of shows that weren't as traumatising for a family TV night.
Far fewer people found it awkward to watch The End of the F***ing World with a family member, with 50% of participants hailing the show for its positive messages on consent.
But the number of sex and inappropriate scenes mean many still chose to watch this one alone.
Other TV shows that landed on the “less awkward” end of the list included Sex and the City, with just 51% voting to avoid this on family TV nights. Around 53% would avoid Outlander , and 58% voted for Girlfriends.
