
The June long weekend is soon, when King Charles III will celebrate his 787th birthday, and some of us will be getting a day off work because of it. Here’s what’s open on the King’s Birthday public holiday. Even though his actual birthday is sometime in November (but I’m pretty sure I got the age right).
So, what the helly Berry is even open on the June long weekend? Am I screwed if I forgot to do a grocery run over the weekend? Can I pop into Chemist Warehouse to pick up fresh skincare after seeing King Charles’ face?

Because absolutely nothing about the Royal Family makes sense, the dates of when different parts of Australia celebrate the old fart’s birthday are different. So, when is the King’s Birthday long weekend in your state or territory?

Which grocery stores are open this long weekend?
Woolworths
Open: All stores in NSW, ACT, Vic, Qld, WA, and Tas are open.
Mostly open: Most SA and NT stores are open, however check your local just to be safe.
Coles
Open: All stores in Qld, NSW, WA, Vic, ACT and Tas are open.
Reduced hours: Some stores in NT will have reduced hours, please look up your local store for more details.
Mostly closed: SA is back at it again with the shut doors. Unfortunately for Adelaide shoppers, most SA Coles stores are closed.
Aldi
Open: NSW, Vic, ACT.
Mostly open: Most stores in SA will be open. However, trading hours may vary. It’s recommended to check your local to be safe.
NA: Tasmania and the NT do not yet have any Aldi locations, and have no current plan to open any stores there.
Which big retailers are swinging open their big doors?
Kmart
Open: Qld, NSW, Vic, Tas, NT, ACT and WA stores are all open this King’s Birthday long weekend with regular hours.
Reduced hours: Most SA stores will be open at reduced hours from 11am until 5pm.
Westfield
Open: Qld and WA stores are all open this King’s Birthday long weekend. There be no rest in the lands of the east and west.
Mostly open: Most NSW and ACT stores are open except Grafton, Inverell, Lismore, Toronto and Gunnedah.
Closed: SA is not playing when it comes to Westfield. All stores will be shut.
Reduced hours: All stores in Victoria will be open from 10-5pm.
Bunnings
Open: Qld and WA again, but are you really surprised at this point?
Reduced hours: All other states and territories will be open with reduced hours this King’s Birthday long weekend.
Big W
Open: All stores in NSW, ACT, Vic, Tas, NT and SA. However, some stores might have reduced hours, so once again, check your local.

When is the King’s real birthday?
King Charles II was born on November 14, 1948, and was delivered via Caesarean birth.
He is a Scorpio, and will one day be reincarnated as a Tampon. Thankfully, the June long weekend and King’s Birthday public holiday do not pay any homage to this.
