From Batman to X-Men: 10 Superhero Omnibus Trades Fans Swear By

I’m an old-school comic book fan and a cynic. Every week, there are just too many comic books to choose from, and not all are worthy of attention. I’m not saying not to read new and different comics. I am saying that there are some comics and creative runs that don’t get enough attention or recognition. Some comic book issues stand on their own, but some runs need to be read in their entirety, like in superhero omnibus trades.

An omnibus collects entire runs of a comic book series as well as other tie-in comics from the era in one volume. Here are several omnibuses that you must buy now.

1. Superior Spider-Man Omnibus Vol. 1

This is one of the superhero omnibus trades you must own now if you love Spider-Man comics. In January 2013, in coordination with the release of the landmark issue of The Amazing Spider-Man #700, a new Spider-Man title was announced. Superior Spider-Man would follow Otto Octavius, Dr. Octopus, becoming the new Spider-Man after the death of Peter Parker.

Buy the 960-page hardcover at Amazon now for $75.

2. Venomnibus By Cates & Stegman

Back in 2018, the Eddie Brock Venom persona and mythos underwent a dramatic update. Venom retroactively became a member of an ancient symbiote race from another planet. The character Knull, God of the Symbiotes, made his debut in this run. Also, Cletus Kasady, also known as Carnage, decides to kill every former Venom host to consolidate his own power.

This is one of those superhero omnibus trades that you get as a gift for the hardcore comic book reader in your life. This 1,352-page collects the first 35 issues of the 2018 Venom series and numerous tie-in issues of the era.

Buy it now for $81 at Amazon.

3. Lone Wolf and Cub Deluxe Edition Volume 1

Lone Wolf and Cub is an epic 1970s manga that influenced the pop culture of the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s. If you have ever seen an action film with a cynical antihero selflessly protecting a child, then it is because of this 1970 manga. The story is about a wandering ronin, Ogami Itto, and his 3-year-old son, Daigoro, in Edo-period Japan.

Framed for a crime by a rival clan and seeking to avenge the death of his wife, Ogami and Daigoro wander the country. This trade collects the first three volumes of the epic saga.

Pre-order the 720-page hardcover for December 9, 2025, now at Amazon for $54.99

4. X-Men: Age Of Krakoa – Dawn Of X Omnibus Vol. 1

In 2019, Marvel Comics updated the X-Men mythos after decades of canon disarray. After the release of the House of X/ Powers of X series, the X-Men comics were all rebooted with new #1s. The X-Men now have their own culture, language, and are all citizens of the living island Krakoa. Instead of being victims of a world that fears them, the X-Men now assert their prominence in the world.

This 1,400-page hardcover collects several runs from the “Dawn of X” era of X-Men comics, like X-Force, Excalibur, X-Men, Marauders, New Mutants, Wolverine, Fallen Angels, and more.

Buy it now for $139 at Amazon.

5. Batman by Chip Zdarsky Omnibus Vol. 1

The recent Chip Zdarsky Batman run was one of the most polarizing for fans in recent history. The writer put Batman in some extreme situations that fans found hard to believe, even for a Batman comic. In one issue, Batman was caught in low Earth orbit, without a spacesuit. He then rode space junk down to Earth, crashed, and walked away without a mark.

It was in this run that the killer robot, Failsafe, made its debut. Also, Bruce Wayne began weaponizing the multiple personalities in his mind in this run.

Buy the 960-page hardcover now at Amazon for $125.

6. Titans by Tom Taylor Omnibus

Back in 2023, various members of the Justice League were either thought to be dead or missing. The Titans then become the premier superhero team on Earth with the Justice League out of action. This storyline left many fans in shock and would help update the Titans as an adult superteam for a new generation.

This 784-page hardcover collects the first 15 issues of the series and several tie-in issues. Buy it now at Amazon for $100

7. Superman: Brainiac Reborn Omnibus

This 1,144-page hardcover collects comics like Action Comics, Superman, and Adventures of Superman spanning from 1989 through 1996. Brainiac made his debut way back in Action Comics #242 in 1958. He is a sentient machine that shrinks cities, collects them to study them, and collects raw data of the cosmos. Brainiac does not see humans or sentient beings as living things, only objects to study for his benefit.

This hardcover shows the evolution of the character into a much more serious and terrifying supervillain threat.

Buy it now from Amazon for $150.

8. Avengers Epic Collection: Absolute Vision

Avengers comics in the 1980s were a different vibe. Every decade and era is different in comic books, but the 1980s Avengers comics were epic, adventurous, and off-the-wall. In 1983, Vision nearly became omnipotent after coming into contact with a celestial computer.

The Avengers then battle the Arthurian villain Morgan Le Fey to save Spider-Woman. After several Avengers are sent to Battleworld during the 1984 Secret Wars event, Vision assembles a new team.

Superhero omnibus trades like this are perfect as gifts for old-school readers who cherish vintage comic book stories.

Pre-order the 464-page paperback at Amazon now for $49.99. It will be released on March 31, 2026.

9. Marvel Comics Library: Avengers 1963

There is only a certain demographic of comic book fans who would love and cherish superhero omnibus trades like this. In 1963, Marvel Comics was creating the modern comic book publishing archetype that many imitate today. The idea of combining solo characters into a team book to expand brand awareness was groundbreaking back then.

This 642-page hardcover collects the first 20 issues of the Avengers run from 1963. This includes the classic issues by writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby.

Buy it now from Amazon for $64.

10. Spider-Man 2099 Omnibus Vol. 1

A new generation of Spider-Man fans got their introduction to Miguel O’Hara, Spider-Man 2099, in 2023’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. However, hardcore comic book fans know that Spider-Man 2099 is a very old and beloved character. So, O’Hara made his debut in 1992 with the Marvel Comics 2099 initiative of the era.

O’Hara is an Irish-Mexican geneticist living in Nueva York in 2099. After his DNA is rewritten with the genetic code of a spider, he assumes the Spider-Man mantle to fight crime.

This 1,384-page hardcover collects all 46 issues of the series and several tie-in comics of the era. Buy it now for $78 at Amazon.
