From barbecues to thundery bursts: Met Office warn rainy weather is highly likely this weekend

What a difference a week can make.

If you were hoping for a repeat of last weekend's mini heatwave, you're in for a big disappointment.

The barbecue is out this weekend, the brolly is in.

Forecasters at the Met Office are expecting a very changeable couple of days with the possibility of some "thundery bursts".

It's expected to be worse inland, but it looks highly likely we'll all see some showers at some point, particularly from lunchtime onwards on Saturday.

Temperatures are going to peak at 12 degrees Celsius, well short of the mini-scorcher we had over the Bank Holiday.

A bit of sunshine is more likely on Sunday but there will be isolated showers again throughout the day.

It will be a bit dryer heading into next week but expect it to be grey and generally a bit miserable.

Although it's too early to know for sure, there's a bit of hope on the horizon for in a couple of weeks.

According to the Met Office: "There are indications that fine and dry weather will dominate in this period, with temperatures near or perhaps above the seasonal average."
