From air purifiers to window vacs - what I found in Aldi’s Specialbuys this week

Whether you’re looking for a new piece of gardening equipment, a pair of walking boots, something to scratch a craft-related itch or the latest beauty dupe - you’ll more than likely find them next to each other in the Aldi middle aisle.

The Specialbuys is a real Aladdin’s Cave of goodies, and you’ll always find something you want, something you need and add seven things to your basket that weren’t on the list but will 100 per cent be worth the money.

Last week, I spotted facial steamers, pizza ovens and crepe makers in the aisle, but with re-stocks every Thursday and Sunday, it means those gadgets and gizmos are constantly changing.

Online, shoppers can pick up a £199 dual fuel barbecue and wicker effect bistro set , while in store sees some of the smaller, more car-friendly Specialbuys, such as patio heaters and air purifiers.

Here are some of the best middle aisle Aldi picks this week, including spring cleaning gadgets, kitchen tech and home fragrance.

Air Purifier

This comes in at £64.99 and is said to remove dust, smoke, odours and pollutants to improve the air quality in your home.

Aldi said: “Look after your family's wellbeing with this air purifier. The innovative LED functionality lights up in different colours to indicate air quality. Make an invisible improvement to your daily life with this air purifier.”

Similar products on the market can retail at around ten times the price, with a Dyson air purifier costing £599.99 at Currys.

Aldi’s version offers a 3-In-1 filter system with sleep mode, as well as an air quality sensor and timer with automatic shut off.

You can buy the Easy Home air purifier online here.

XL Candles

Candles are always a popular purchase at Aldi, with their affordable home fragrance often duping big name brands like Jo Malone and The White Company.

Now the retailer has brought back three extra large scented candles from their Hotel Collection, which offer a longer burn time than their regular candles.

The candles, which come in large white or black glass jars are in the fragrances peach, cyclamen and soft amber , pink pepper, rose, amber and soft leather , and finally, tuberose, cashmere and ylang ylang , priced at £8.99 each.

The candles have three wicks and a 65-hour burn time, with 100 five star reviews from shoppers who describe them as ‘beautiful’ with a ‘great scent throw’.

Compact Air Fryer

Air fryers can be a pretty pricey investment, with the Ninja air fryer retailing at £199.99 and the Innoteck 16L air fry - which I reviewed here - for £124.99 at The Range.

But Aldi have launched the Ambiano Compact Air Fryer that's available for just £29.99.

Available in black and white, the 2.5L compact air fryer comes with a three year guarantee and seven automatic cooking programmes which are intended to make using the air fryer for lots of different delicious recipes super easy from the get go.

With 7 automatic cooking programmes you'll be able to start right away with delicious treats and recipes. The LED digital touch screen display makes setting your chosen setting an easy task. Treat your family, friends and taste buds to this innovative gadget.”

The air fryer can be used at temperatures between 80 and 200 degrees celsius with a 30 minute timer and a non-stick coated frying basket for easy cleaning.

There have been more than 200 five star reviews left by customers on the Aldi website, with one writing: “Excellent air fryer, decided to buy one after friends raved about them and they weren't wrong. Cooks anything brilliantly and in less time than a standard cooker - sausages are definitely better cooked this way! Have no hesitation recommending it.”

You can find the Ambiano Compact Air Fryer here.

Portable Patio Heater

Ready for those summer get-togethers and al fresco dining, the Aldi portable outdoor tower heater could be a great addition to the garden to keep guests warm when temperatures drop.

The 1,200W heater is priced at £79..99 and offers both heat and light for a cosy vibe.

Aldi said: “Upgrade your outdoor space with the Portable Outdoor Heater. Ideal for taking the chill out of the air on those early evenings, this 1200w carbon heating lamp provides instant heat.”

The heater has a built-in carry handle to move it around to find the perfect spot, as well as a splash proof design just in case you picked up Aldi’s huge inflatable water slide, too.

There have been mixed reviews online, with 19 five star ratings compared to 10 one star reviews.

Generally shoppers seem to enjoy the product, with one writing: “Love this heater. It's keeping my garden shack toasty hot during these cold nights. Gives off a lovely orange glow too.”

Another added: “Sturdy stylish. Gives off a lovely lighting effect like 360 degrees rays of sunshine. Lovely contemporary design. Enhances patio experience with ample heat.”

But others have complained about the amount of heat it gives off, writing: “Doesn’t give out that much heat would only be good for late spring evenings not autumn.”

Window Vac

Shoppers have dubbed this £19.99 window vac to be as good as Karcher for cleaning windows and glass throughout the home.

The Easy Home Electric Window Cleaner comes in grey and teal, designed with extra attachments to meet your cleaning needs. It offers a suction head, spray bottle with cloth holder, two washable microfibre cloths and an AC charging adapter too.

One charge provides up to 30 minutes of run time, with a low battery indicator to let you know when to pop it back on charge.

One shopper said: “My sons bought this for me, to just clean the greenhouse. One use and in the house it went. Every window has now been done, including the creepy one in the attic. Full of spider web and dust. So even the spiders have clean windows.”

Another added: “We have been using a Karcher WV50 to dry our shower every day until it broke recently. The Aldi Electric Window Cleaner works just as well and at a fraction of the Karcher price. Excellent value.”
