From €1.1 million to €140k: Bookies reveal the top ten accumulator wins of the decade

As the decade draws to a close, bookmakers can reveal the lucky picks from punters which cost them big over the past ten years.

And Paddy Power has revealed their biggest accumulator win occurred in 2013, when a punter hit the bookmaker for some €1,158,095 from a tenner bet on a horse racing six fold.

The wager, three races across Naas and Galway in a 90-minute period, and it became the highest single pay-out of the decade for the Irish bookmakers.

Next up was a €5 seven-team result & BTTS football acca, landing €324,363 for the lucky winner in 2015, while a lso in 2015 – a lucky year, evidently – one winner placed a €1 17-leg accumulator across the Champions League, Championship and League One, netting €242,043.

In horse racing, €2 turned into €199,645 in 2016 when one lucky gambler had a win or each way eightfold accumulator.

That year also saw one racing bettor correctly predict the entire card of the first day of Cheltenham. They also backed Blaklion to land the RSA Chase at odds of 8/1, and in total bagged €128,992 for their lucky picks for a €7 stake.

While a correct result & Both Teams To Score selection from eight different competitions saw one punter land €170,911.

Spokesman Paddy Power said: “I’m still convinced the lad who managed to predict 17 football match results is actually a time traveller, not to mention the individual who predicted the results of a full day at Cheltenham.”
