Frightening moment man 'slashed with Stanley blade' on Glasgow street as mob smash bottles and scrap in sickening brawl

Shocking footage appears to show the moment a thug slashes a rival with a blade in a sickening street brawl in central Glasgow.

Horrified shoppers watch on as the scrap kicks off in Argyle Street then spills onto neighbouring Union Street in broad daylight yesterday afternoon.

Punches are thrown and bottles smashed as thugs fight a running battle.

Amid the mayhem, one of the following group is heard to ask: “Is that a Stanley?” And then adds: “He slashed ye.”

The mobile phone footage starts with two louts grappling in the middle of the road as a bottle smashes on the ground.

One of the trailing group yells: "Batter his face in."

More punches are thrown and broken bottles brandished as chaos ensues.

A man in a red top, black shorts and face mask is then seen smashing a bottle on railings.

Two men aim punches at his head before the man in the red top swings his right arm at one of them.

He is then seen fleeing between traffic on a busy afternoon in the city centre.

The man he was fighting with shows his arm to the camera with what looks like blood on his hand.

No details were available on the extent of injuries while the cause of the rammy remains a mystery.

The footage ends with one of the victims pals turning around and asking: “Where’s my bird?”

Police Scotland has been approached for comment.
