'Frightening' footage shows caravans at holiday park swept away by flooding

FOOTAGE shared on social media has shown the moment several caravans were swept away by flooding.

It comes as Scotland continues to recover from extreme rainfall over the weekend with some areas of the country still at risk from flooding.

It’s understood the footage is of Stratheck Holiday Park in Dunoon. It shows three caravans being swept away by the water.

A number of people commented with one describing the footage as “frightening” and another saying they hoped that nobody had been “seriously hurt”.

A third person meanwhile said they had a property in the park and that they were lucky it “didn’t end up in the water”.

In a post on its Facebook page yesterday morning, the holiday park’s general manager provided an update.

The caption read: “Stratheck and Loch Eck Country Lodges are now completely off-limits to anyone other than select team members who are trying to assess the damage.

“We appreciate that some may be tempted to come and see the effects of the weather on the park and speak to the park team – but please ensure that you do not make this journey.

“The phone line, electricity and water have temporarily been disconnected from the park and caravans/lodges are being pulled back from the water’s edge where possibly.

“The team have been working through the night and day to ensure the safety of everyone at the park. Due to this recent development with power being turned off, it means that people will be unable to contact the park directly.

“We greatly appreciate your patience at this time and are working to update everyone as soon as possible.

“We will have another update tomorrow morning, please keep watching this space. Affected owners will be contacted directly.”
