Frieze London appoints Eva Langret as new artistic director

Frieze London has announced that Eva Langret will take over as artistic director from Jo Stella-Sawicka.

She will take the position, which Stella-Sawicka held for eight years, in November.

Langret joins Frieze from London gallery Tiwani Contemporary in Marylebone, where she curated Maren Hassinger’s first exhibition outside the US. Prior to this she held positions at non-profit art organisation the Delfina Foundation and the Wapping Project.

She said: “Frieze London is known for championing era-defining, critically engaged work produced by today’s most significant artists. I am thrilled to join the trailblazing team of curators, thinkers and organisers who have shaped the fair into becoming one of the most vibrant, global platforms for contemporary art.”

Stella-Sawicka’s departure was announced in June, as she will launch new Goodman Gallery as director, opening in October. She first joined Frieze in 2011 to launch Frieze New York as deputy director.

Frieze London returns to Regent’s Park on October 3, featuring more than 160 galleries from around the world.
