The heartbroken friends of a teenager who tragically lost his life in Bristol’s harbour have launched a fundraising appeal to meet the costs of his funeral.
The GoFundMe page is raising money for the funeral of Brooklyn Sheehan, whose body was recovered from the water by the Arnolfini on Friday.
It is thought he was with friends after attending the balloon fiesta on Thursday before entering the water.
But the 17-year-old got into difficulties and tragically died.
Friends and family have with flowers, balloons and tributes to Brooklyn, led by his mum Tracey, who’s heartbroken letter to her son has touched the hearts of everyone in Bristol.
This week, one of Brooklyn’s friends launched a petition calling for greater safety measures to be in place to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
Now Tracey’s friend Debz Saunders has set up a GoFundMe page to help the support the family with the expenses they now unfortunately face.
“No mother should have to go through this,” said Debz. “My heart goes out to the family at this sad time, so please help and give him the best send off he deserves."
So far, a couple of hundred pounds has been raised through the appeal, and Debz said she hoped Bristol would get behind the appeal, so the family had one less thing to be concerned about.
Any extra money raised would be put towards a memorial for Brooklyn.
