Friends Reunion: Watch the first full trailer for long-awaited special - with stars on the original set

The first full trailer for the long-awaited Friends reunion special has been released - and it features the cast returning to the sitcom's famous set.

Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer are shown surrounded by the show's original scenery at Warner Brothers Studios - including the Central Perk coffee shop - taking part in a trivia game and doing a table read of familiar scenes.

The one-off episode does not involve the stars acting in character. Instead, they have got back together to reminisce about the enormously popular comedy, which ran from 1994 to 2004, and share memories of its heyday.

It also has a star-studded line-up of guests, including David Beckham, Justin Bieber, BTS, James Corden, Cindy Crawford, Cara Delevingne, Lady Gaga, Kit Harington, Tom Selleck, Reese Witherspoon and Malala Yousafzai.

Corden appears in the trailer, asking the cast for their verdicts on one of Friends’ most contentious issues – were Ross and Rachel on a break?

Aniston, who played Rachel Green, answered yes, only for LeBlanc, who played Joey, to reply in the negative.

“We have such a bond from this show,” Kudrow, who played Phoebe Buffay, said.

Schwimmer, who starred as Ross Geller, added: “Everyone was so perfectly cast.”

Aniston revealed a producer of a rival show claimed Friends was never going to make her a star, while LeBlanc recalled the frenzied media interest in the cast, telling the others he saw aerial shots of their houses on the TV.

Cox played Monica Geller and said: “It was an incredible time. We became best friends.”

The reunion was repeatedly delayed because of the Covid-19 pandemic after originally being set to arrive on the HBO Max platform in May last year.

It begin streaming on HBO Max in the US on May 27. A UK release has not yet been announced.
