Friends reunion special delayed indefinitely due to coronavirus, HBO confirms

Friends fans will have to wait a little longer for the sitcom's reunion special as HBO has confirmed it will not be filmed in time to be shown next month.

The highly anticipated reunion show was planned for launch alongside the HBO Max streaming service in the USA in May.

HBO Max has now confirmed the Friends reunion will not be filmed in time to be released in May, Press Association reports.

Courtney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer were all due to get together to shoot the HBO special in March. But filming did not go ahead, due to the coronavirus.

Rumours of a Friends reunion circled for years after the smash hit show finished in 2004 after 10 seasons. Fans' wishes came true in February, when a one-off special featuring the main cast was confirmed to be in the pipeline.

Friends drew in huge ratings during the 1990s and early 2000s and was one of Netflix's most-watched shows before it was removed from the streaming service earlier this year. Classic episodes are shown daily on Channel 5.
