Friends of tragic teen Amber Gibson to hold poignant balloon release in her memory

Friends of tragic Hamilton teen Amber Gibson will release balloons in a poignant memorial service to the 16-year-old next week.

Pals old and new plan on setting off hundreds of balloons at a ceremony at Chatelherault Country Park next Friday, December 10 at 1.30pm marking two weeks to the day since Amber went missing.

Those in attendance are asked to bring balloons in Amber's favourite colours of yellow and red in her honour.

In a Facebook post a heartbroken friend said: "This is an open invite to anyone who wishes to come and pay some respects.

"It doesn’t matter who you are, if you would like to come down to set off some balloons in her honour and to have one last happy memory of her you are more than welcome.

"This includes, family members of Ambers, friends of Ambers, anyone that knew Amber, Amber's school friends, and anyone Amber had in her unit.

"Amber's favourite colours were yellow and red. So if you are bringing helium balloons to let off try and pick the colours yellow, red or white.

"This let's us have our last memory of Amber a good one as the memory we are all dealing with just now isn’t so bright and cheerful. All that is asked is that everyone who is coming is well behaved and there is no carry on. As this is an open invite and anybody is welcome.

"This will happen on December 10 at 1.30pm. If you are unable to make it we do apologise. We have chosen this time as we would like this to happen before it gets dark."

Amber, 16, had been reported missing from her Hillhouse home on Friday, November 26, and was last seen on Cadzow Street at 9.55pm that evening.

Her body was discovered near to Cadzow Glen around 10.10am on Sunday, November 28.
