Friends of Stonehouse Park buzzing about live music event 'Bandstand Beatz'

Friends of Stonehouse Park are holding ‘Bandstand Beatz’ on Saturday, August 10, featuring live music from Shoogleroon, Holm Street, Sand and Sea and James Kennedy.

Those attending the event in Alexander Hamilton Memorial Park are invited to bring their own picnic and blankets for the event, which runs from 1pm until 5pm.

A BBQ and soft drinks will be available.

Free tickets are available at eventbrite.co.uk and organisers would appreciate if people would apply for these, to plan numbers for safety and catering.

Organiser Karen Kelly said: “It’s our first music event, we’re hoping to raise the profile of the bandstand before we go forward, with a plan of restoration, in conjunction with Historic Environment Scotland and South Lanarkshire Council.

“The four bands are local to Stonehouse, Strathaven and Larkhall, and we really hope this event will have a firm place in our calendar of events, and be able to grow into an all-day event in coming years.”

Chairperson David Wilson said: “Bandstand Beatz is a really exciting addition to our regular events, to put to use our historical bandstand is exactly what we want going on in the park.

“We’re always lucky with the weather and, hopefully, this event will be no different. Come along, have a boogie, and hear the local talent perform.”
