Friends musical Friendsical is coming to Newcastle later this year

Feel like you're always stuck in second gear and it hasn't been your day, your week, your month or even your year?

Well we have some news that might change that...a Friends musical is going to tour the UK and coming to to Newcastle.

It's been 25 years since Rachel, Ross, Monica, Chandler, Phoebe and Joey first burst into our lives from the Atlantic for the first episode of Friends, and we still never tire of watching them!

Newcastle's everlasting love for Friends was showcased to perfection when massive touring event Friends Fest arrived at Paddy Freeman's Park, giving the show's Geordie fans a chance to step into replica sets from the show, pick up a guitar in Central Perk and even pose for a picture while trying to 'pivot'.

And now there's another reason for Newcastle-based lovers of Friends to get excited.

Friends parody musical Friendsical is coming to British soil this summer and will arrive at Northern Stage on September 2 for a six night run.

It is written by Friends super-fan Miranda Larson, whose recent theatre credits include Tom Fletcher's Christmasaurus for the Hammersmith Apollo.

The plot to the show is "When Ross’ wife leaves him for another woman, he fears he will never find love again. But then Rachel runs back into his life… will he end up with his one true love?"

Featuring original songs such as ‘(He’s her) Lobster!’, ‘Richard’s Moustache’ and ‘You’re Over Me? When Were You Under Me?’, Friendsical sees all the gang take on naked Thursdays, a power cut, and a dinosaur convention.

Tickets for the Newcastle shows are set to be available soon from the Northern Stage website. Casting details are set to be announced nearer the time.
