Friends monkey trainer slams 'jealous' David Schwimmer after hateful Marcel jabs

David Schwimmer's unlikely feud with Marcel the monkey has flared up once again.

As has long been well-established, Schwimmer was not exactly a fan of the monkeys who played Ross's pet Marcel on Friends, as he famously told EW back in 1995 that he "hated" them.

And more recently, during the reunion special, Schwimmer said: "Obviously it was trained and it had to hit its mark and do its thing right at the perfect time," adding: "But what inevitably began to happen was we would all have choreographed bits kind of timed out and it would get messed up because the monkey didn't do its job right."

He recalled how Morris would feed the monkeys "live grubs" whilst he was sat on his shoulder, which he didn't really approve of, as he said: "So the monkey would be sitting on my shoulder, take some grubs and break it up and then go like that," he explained, ruffling his own hair.

"So I’d have monkey grubby hands all over and it was just time for Marcel to... f**k off!"

But now, animal handler Mike Morris, has responded by suggesting Schwimmer might have been jealous because the monkey was getting "a lot of laughs" from the studio audience.

Morris has finally spoken out about Schwimmer (NBC via Getty Images)

In an interview with The Sun, Morris said Schwimmer was fine with the monkeys on set but eventually "turned on them" and became "bitter."

"Of course, I didn't watch the reunion interview but I heard from others what Schwimmer said," he said.

"I just don't agree with it, if anything he threw off their timing if we want to be truthful. Schwimmer was fine with the monkeys for the first couple of episodes and happy to be there.

"But people would laugh at the monkey and I think he got jealous because it wasn't him getting the laughs."
