Friends' matching tattoos leave people scratching heads over 'dumb meaning'

Having matching tattoos seemed like a great way for two women to seal their friendship.

But when the proud artist behind the artwork showcased his skills on social media his post went viral as people tried to work out the story behind them.

The tattoos on the two women's arms by Rob Kemp at The Collective Napier in New Zealand, feature two knives on an electric stove.

Rob posted the image on his Facebook page Arkay Tattooer saying he "finally" completed the second of the two tattoos over the weekend saying: "Driving buddies for life."

This sparked a debate as bemused Facebook users tried to work out what it meant with more than 400 people commenting on the post.

One said: “What does a butter knife on a stove burner have to do with being driving buddies?

“Perhaps a picture of a car would have been more accurate.”

Another Facebook user joked: "I thought those were dart boards with poorly drawn darts."

One angrily person said: "Partner thought they were Lollypops (sic)."

In New Zealand driving is slang for a method of using marijuana which is also known as 'hot knife'.

The two women decided to get matching tattoos as a tribute to the drug.

However not everyone is impressed.

“I thought tramp stamps were trashy but this definitely tops every single tramp stamp ever,” a critic said.

Another disgusted person commented: “This is the dumbest idea for a tattoo I've ever seen."

But the tattoos also attracted hoards of fans, including a artwork fan who gushed: "That’s awesome!!
