The daughter of a Bootle man who died suddenly from a heart attack at work has paid tribute to the 'best dad in the world.'
Everton FC fan Tommy King died suddenly on a construction site in Belgium on September 18. The 65-year-old electrician left behind his wife and three daughters.
Tommy's funeral took place today at St Anthony's church in north Liverpool , and his family arranged for a light aircraft to fly a banner over Bootle this morning paying tribute to him.
The message, which prompted comments on social media, read: 'Tommy King Our Hero We ❤️ You Always'.
Tommy's daughter Martii told the ECHO: "Tommy was the best father, husband and granddad in the world. Full stop. The last time we saw my dad was at a family barbecue in August.
"His final words to me were 'I love you.' That was his way of saying goodbye."
Tommy died while working on a site in Belgium. A senior manager broke the news to staff, describing Tommy as a 'friend rather than a colleague.'
The manager said their thoughts were with Tommy's family and the tribute was met with a minute's silence. The iconic theme from Z Cars was then played.
Last month Everton FC organised a tribute to Tommy at Goodison. His photograph appeared on a big screen at the home game against Sheffield United on September 21.
Tommy is survived by his wife Christine and daughters Marti, Toni and Nikki. His son Darren predeceased him.
