Friends: Jennifer Aniston says female stars were paid more than male counterparts

Friends star Jennifer Aniston has revealed that some of the women on the hit sitcom were paid more than their male counterparts.

The actor, who was paid an estimated $1 million per episode for the show’s final season in 2003, told Radio Times: “I’m aware that I have had a pretty easy time in terms of my experience in the business. But even back on Friends, it wasn’t so much about women being paid the same as men – some of the women were being paid more.

“It was more about, ‘We’re doing equal work and we all deserve to be compensated in the same way.’"

She added: “I wouldn’t feel good going to work knowing someone was getting x amount and I was getting something greater.”

Aniston starred in all 10 seasons of Friends alongside Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer and Matthew Perry.

Aniston can next be seen in new Apple TV series The Morning Show with Reese Witherspoon.
