Friends fans left baffled as they spot bizarre 'chewable coffee' in Central Perk

Friends fans have recently spotted a bizarre mistake in an old episode of the iconic sitcom.

The show, which starred the likes of David Schwimmer, Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox ended in 2004, but still has fans hooked to this day, with many rewatching the series on streaming services.

As the Friends fanbase continues to grow, fans have spotted a new blunder in an old episode, which saw the six pals meet up in their local coffee shop, Central Perk.

During the episode while the camera is focused on Ross, (David Schwimmer) fans noticed a background actor taking a swig from her coffee cup before chewing whatever had gone into her mouth and placing the coffee cup down.

"Probably Rachel brought her coffee and there was a pencil inside," one TikToker joked, taking aim at Rachel's (Jennifer Aniston) awful waitressing skills.

A second laughed: "She must have got acting lessons from Joey."

"Not to mention the obviously empty cup that she starts drinking from when it's not near her mouth," a third joked.

Others in the comments gave their suggestions on what the extra could have been chewing, with many thinking it could be marshmallows or soup.

"How do you know there weren't marshmallows in her hot chocolate hey?" one suggested, while another added: "It was a cup a soup! Gunther was famous for them!"

Despite its blunders, Friends has always remained one of the most adored shows of our time. The mid-90s sitcom followed the lives of six reckless adults living in Manhattan.

Ross Geller (David Schwimmer), Rachel Green (Jennifer Aniston), Monica Geller (Courteney Cox), Joey Tribbiani (Matt LeBlanc), Chandler Bing (Matthew Perry), and Phoebe Buffay (Lisa Kudrow) were twenty-somethings living in New York City, with their adventures documented throughout the NBC series.

Each member of the full cast was paid an estimated $1million per episode during the show's final few seasons.

Recently the song from the sitcom was hailed the nation's favourite TV theme of all time.
